Project Opportunities

The proposed project aims to enhance the local and regional walking and cycling recreational network, in particular serving as a link to the South East Greenway, Nore Valley Walks, East Kilkenny Cycle Route and the South Leinster Way. The proposed Greenway has the potential to boost tourism in the area, including increased visitor numbers to Woodstock Estate and Inistioge Village and other local attractions.

* Landowner Engagement will be undertaken in accordance with the Code of Best Practice National and Regional Greenways.

* Phases 5 & 6 will be subject to planning approval and funding for the project to proceed.

Study Area

Kilkenny County Council has identified a broad Study Area to enable appropriate route options for the Greenway to be developed and assessed. It can be viewed below. Study Area map can also be viewed in the Publications and Mapping section of this website.
